Treasurer’s Report, Dave Harem: total funds on hand $61,60.95 (less $181.84, expenses for Jayhawker belly boat launch project)
Raffle Report, Dominick Scarillo: $34.53
Old
business: belly boat launch draw about 20 volunteers; project completed
in under two hours including city parks and open lands’ dumping of road
bed and gravel material. Discussion of possible second project at
Recycle Pond. Tom Miller reports total expense was $181.84 and we have
4 of 10 landscaping timbers left.

have included tax, tip or coffee. Board moved and approved proposal to
try Dorothy’s Catering, 8:30 a.m.
Larry Callihan, city parks and
open lands manager described city plans for the Fairgrounds Park
improvements, on about 48.5 acres. DOW electroshock of the Big Thompson

five non-native including small brown trout, carp and smallmouth. Plan
is to make stream improvements to make it a better transition area
fishery. He’ll have better understanding of volunteer needs soon and
will report back for potential FLC participation.
The board

$1,000 for float tube launch ramps, beginning with Jayhawker Pond. Tom
will try to find out who manages the city-owned pond north of the city
recyling center, a tentative location for a second float tube launch.
-
$500 for handicapped boat ramp at Lone Tree Reservoir, supporting
Centennial Bass Club project. Tom is seeing whether the project is
being held up by availability of funds; the sense of the board is, we
may want to increase the Club’s donation.
-
Memorial Bench in memory of Dick Bunce; up to $1485 could be spent from
the memorial fund; the city has already approved location at the North
Lake Pond, site of the annual Kids Fishing Derby.
-
Big Thompson water improvement project? As part of the city’s upgrade
of the old fairgrounds park, Larry Callahan’s exploring plans to
improve fish habitat in the adjacent section of the Big Thompson.
- Other possibilities:
-
John Gwynup has proposed creation of a fish ruler, cloth or plastic,
with the club’s logo, for handout at the Derby and other activities.
A
visit to Pella Crossing ponds is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday,
September 12 to look over Boulder County’s float tube launch ramps.
Meet at K-Mart.
George
Kral is seeking volunteers to help with the Chilson Sept. 21 Harvest
Bazaar; a number of club members have volunteered and he’s gathering
information on what else is needed.
Most
of the Board’s discussion centered on how to spend some of our
available money for activities supporting fishing for seniors and
youth. Tom Miller is presenting Parks and Recreation staff with the
following tentative plans:
-
$1,000 for float tube launch ramps, beginning with Jayhawker Pond. Tom
will try to find out who manages the city-owned pond north of the city

Bill Prater proposed the acquisition of a fishing library, books,
magazines and DVD’s, to be donated to the Loveland public library.
Kids
Fishing Derby: the $1,050 left from the 2007 derby was donated by local
sponsors, and represents about the amount needed to run the 2008 derby.
The club will continue to solicit donations, and look for ways to
improve the derby.
Other
items for the Sept. 18 club meeting: Bill Prater will prepare a
questionaire for attendees asking for their fishing interests and
availability or recommendations for elected and volunteer positions for
2008. it’ll include information on the nominating process for board
elections. At this point we’ll be electing a new vice president and
secretary, with Bill continuing as webmaster and newsletter editor.
It
appears the announced closing of the K-Mart lunchroom has been
postponded, but we’re looking at alternatives, including the McKee
Hospital lunchroom and the Widow McCoy’s, which has a separate room.
