March newsletter March and April: It’s Spring!
Or darned close
Loveland ice fishing’s finest are still heading for the frozen lakes of the high country, but after a colder than normal winter our warm water lakes and ponds are mostly open, and streams are showing signs of thaw. As an occasional ice fisherman, in it mostly for good company, your editor gives a sigh of relief. March weather can test your mettle, but it also offers the promise of spring. Enjoy!
Our club calendar may be
optimistic in its schedule of Thursday events, but mark the dates on your
calendar and, if weather permits, join other club members for an outing
starting at 8 a.m. in the K-Mart parking lot.
And if you’d rather just get ready for the fishing season ahead, there
are plenty of special events to get you in the mood.
How about a few of these?
March 6-9 is the 51st annual Colorado RV, Sports, Boat & Travel Show at the National Western Complex in Denver. Admission is $8, with kids under 12 free. Here’s the website, for a list of exhibitors and a printable coupon.:

Even closer to home is the Colorado Outdoor Expo, March 29-30 at the Ranch Event Center, with a pretty broad range of outdoor activities including our favorite pasttime. Here’s the web site for more information.

Also at the Ranch, April 4-6, is the Larimer County Fishing and Boating Expo. (The club will have a booth.)
